Catherine Nanton

Catherine Nanton has more than forty years of training experience. She started her career as a police officer with the Peel Regional Police Service. In 1984, Catherine was seconded to the Ontario Police College as the first female officer to train in the academic area of recruit training. Following her promotion to Sergeant, Catherine left the police service to become a Professor at Sheridan College, coordinating the Police Foundations training program there. In 1994, she moved to full-time instructing at the Ontario Police College. Catherine served as a Criminal Investigations trainer designing and delivering investigative training in the areas of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence. Her final assignment took her to the Leadership Unit where she became an expert in the fields of transformational leadership, emotional intelligence and personality and temperament.

 

In 2009, Catherine moved from the Ontario Police College to take a position as the Chief Learning Officer of the Advocate Learning Initiative in Kitchener, Ontario. In addition to leading corporate communications, she spearheaded the design and delivery of personal and professional development training to clients in both the private and public sectors.

 

In 2011, Catherine became the coordinator of the Public Safety Leadership program at Fanshawe College, retiring in 2022. Since then, she has served in a counselling, coaching and mentoring role for Life Church Fort Myers, and in a training role with the Civilian Support Unit of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

 

Catherine has trained internationally in her area of expertise. Her clients include The Center For American and International Law, Microsoft, Ontario Provincial Police, Grant Thornton LLP, Advocate Insurance Group, Re/Max Realty, New Horizons of Southwest Florida, and many others.
